1:00 - 3:30 pm
The best vessel for flowers isn't always a vase. In this hands-on workshop, we'll raid the flea market shelf and let the unexpected take center stage — think cracked pitchers, old tins, quirky thrift-store oddities, and anything that was never meant to hold flowers but absolutely should.
You'll learn how to prep and waterproof non-traditional vessels so they can actually do the job, then dive into the design itself — working with an intentionally curated mix of unusual, farm-grown and locally sourced blooms, branches, and botanicals that you simply won't find at a grocery store or big box shop. These are the interesting stems: the ones with character, movement, and the occasional element of surprise.
In this workshop, you'll:
Learn techniques for preparing vintage and found vessels to safely hold water and florals
Design a larger-scale statement arrangement as a group
Create a one-of-a-kind take-home arrangement in your own randomly assigned vintage vessel
Work with unusual, distinctive stems sourced specifically for this class
Pick up design principles that make "unconventional" look intentional
No experience needed — just an appreciation for things that are a little bit odd and very beautiful. All materials are included: your vintage vessel, and a generous hand with exceptional flowers and botanicals grown and gathered with this workshop in mind.
What's included: All instruction, a curated selection of farm-grown and locally sourced stems, your vintage take-home vessel, and light refreshments.
$175 | 2.5 hours | The Flower Studio at Patten Hill Flower Farm
Enrollment is limited to ensure a personal, unhurried experience.
